Winning Kennedy Center's VSA International Young Soloists Award!
Updated: Aug 24, 2019
This July, I had the amazing experience of being selected for a prestigious award sponsored by none other than The Kennedy Center's Very Special Arts program! The VSA program is an amazing cause meant to support artists with disabilities.
The VSA International Young Soloists Award, an award given yearly to five young musicians ages 14 to 25 who demonstrate excellence in music, is one of their most recognized programs.
As a young musician with Tourette syndrome, I was eligible to apply for this award, and may I just say, applying was the best decision I ever made. I simply submitted an application, along with some of my produced tracks, and I was selected!
The experience was amazing. Not only did I have to opportunity to perform on Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, but I also got to work with professionals, attend professional development workshops, and most importantly, meet four other amazingly talented, supportive, and open minded young musicians.
The photagrapher also got some seriously adorable photos! :)
